Employment Litigation Associate

Position Overview

The Employment Litigation Associate will support the firms Labor & Employment Practice Group by handling a wide range of employment-related disputes for clients across various industries. This role includes defending employers in state and federal courts throughout Texas as well as before administrative agencies such as the EEOC TWC and DOL. The ideal candidate has strong litigation skills excellent writing ability and experience navigating employment statutes and workplace disputes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent employers in employment litigation matters including discrimination harassment retaliation wrongful termination wage-and-hour and non-compete/trade secret disputes.

  • Manage cases from initial intake through trial preparation including drafting pleadings motions and discovery responses.

  • Conduct depositions of parties witnesses and experts.

  • Prepare and argue motions in state and federal courts.

  • Assist with administrative proceedings before the EEOC TWC and other regulatory bodies (position statements mediations investigations).

  • Provide legal research analysis and risk assessment related to federal and Texas employment laws.

  • Support clients by reviewing and drafting employment-related agreements handbooks and policies as needed.

  • Communicate regularly with clients opposing counsel courts and internal team members.

  • Participate in case strategy meetings and contribute to litigation planning and client counseling.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • Active license in Texas (in good standing).

  • 15 years of employment litigation experience preferred (adjustable as needed).

  • Strong understanding of key statutes including Title VII ADA ADEA FLSA FMLA and Chapter 21 of the Texas Labor Code.

  • Excellent legal research writing and communication skills.

  • Experience with depositions hearings and motion practice is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
