The Role

We are looking for a strategic and proactive Influencing Advisor to support and strengthen our advocacy and policy engagement efforts in the Netherlands the EU and across the organisation. This medior-level technical role combines policy analysis external representation and capacity building to ensure that TdH NLs influencing work is evidence-based impactful and aligned with our global and national strategies.

You will represent TdH NL in key networks coordinate advocacy activities and support staff and partners in planning and implementing effective influencing initiatives. You will also play a key role in promoting child participation in advocacy and ensuring our policy work reflects the lived experiences of children.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Policy Support

  • Coordinate the implementation of the Global and Dutch Influence and Advocacy Strategies;
  • Ensure national and EU-level influencing aligns with organisational priorities and the Listen Up! agenda.

External Representation Lobby and Advocacy

  • Represent TdH NL in Dutch and European networks including the Kinderrechtencollectief (KRC);
  • Support engagement with MPs ministries and other stakeholders including briefing senior colleagues;
  • Create opportunities to influence policy on OSEC child trafficking and child protection funding;
  • Coordinate advocacy campaigns and events in collaboration with internal teams;
  • Maintain strategic relationships with policymakers and provide follow-up support.

Policy Monitoring and Analysis

  • Monitor Dutch and EU policy developments relevant to TdH NLs priorities;
  • Provide timely analysis and recommendations to inform strategy and positioning;
  • Ensure advocacy remains relevant and sustainable within national and EU policy debates.

Capacity Building and Organisational Support

  • Deliver training and technical support on influencing to staff and partners;
  • Support evidence-based and participatory advocacy across the organisation;
  • Contribute to the development of policy briefs and advocacy materials.

Child Participation and Inclusion

  • Facilitate meaningful child and youth participation in Dutch and European advocacy;
  • Support partners in creating safe and inclusive spaces for child-led advocacy;
  • Promote integration of child participation into broader influencing strategies.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience in policy engagement lobbying and advocacy on childrens rights or protection;
  • Strong understanding of Dutch and EU policy processes;
  • Practical experience facilitating child and youth participation in advocacy;
  • Experience representing organisations in networks or coalitions;
  • Ability to train and support staff and partners in advocacy and campaigning;
  • Skilled in connecting programme evidence with policy recommendations;
  • Fluency in Dutch and English is essential; proficiency in French or another European language is an asset;
  • Relevant academic background and at least 5 years of professional experience.

  • The salary scale for this position is scale 10 and depending on experience ranges from 4.00230 to 5.16240 gross per month for a full-time 36-hour workweek.
  • 25 days of paid annual leave based on a full-time contract; pro rata for part-time employees;
  • We work hybrid: 50% at the office and 50% from home. We are quite flexible and value your work-life balance;
