Job Summary

JOB TITLE: Product Development Manager
Location: Santiago - On site
Schedule: 8:00 am - 5:30 pm Monday - Friday
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR PURPOSE OF JOB:
Manage all processes related to new product development for the company working and partnering up with both external and internal team members to ensure timelines and expectations are achieved. Is also the operational liaison in between marketing and product team with the manufacturing plant.
Incumbents of this role are required to be on call and/or available after hours to provide their own mobile device and to distribute their mobile phone number accordingly. Alternatively individuals may distribute their office phone number if their office phone is set to forward calls to their personal device when they are not physically present.
RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Work with the product team to evaluate and select the correct material to be used when developing a new style/product
  • Coordinate with the process Engineering and QA team the correct method equipment and quality standards needed to manufacture the new product
  • Lead the product development team to ensure all samples are produced within the standards
  • Lead and coordinate with internal departments (IT Planning Procurement and Finance) to create in our internal systems all structure needed to be able to track new products in our ERP.
  • Develop and keep up to date all Companys BOMand Specifications.
  • Keep all cost sheets updated

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES In any job with supervisory responsibilities the following are an explicit part of the incumbents responsibilities and essential functions:

  • Participate in decisions related to the selection promotion transfer pay and discipline of assigned personnel.
  • Clearly communicate job duties and responsibilities to enable individuals to proceed with certainty in the performance of their positions.
  • Monitor the work performance of assigned personnel on a continual basis; conduct effective performance reviews; take corrective action whenever necessary and where necessary work with HR Generalists to establish performance improvement plans.
  • Support the development of assigned personnels skills and abilities and demonstrate by personal example the desired standards of conduct (Jostens values) and work performance.
  • Identify and resolve skill gaps and succession issues.
  • Administer Company policies with regard to discipline absenteeism a fair and equitable manner and fully document all incidents and actions taken.
  • Involve assigned HR Generalist on compliance issues such as pay equity equal opportunity in hiring and promotions and proper procedures for hiring terminations lay-offs etc.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS: Note that (i) computer literacy and working-level skill with the basic MS Office suite (Word Excel Outlook Explorer) (ii) good verbal and written communication skills (iii) good interpersonal skills and (iv) the ability to work well both individually and in a team environment are default requirements for all Jostens exempt and salaried nonexempt employees.
Required:
  • Degree in Textile Manufacturing Product Design Engineering or Business
  • 5 years of experience leading product development processes and new style creation
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Ability to work with tight timelines
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to develop and implement projects implementation
  • Highly practical
Preferred:
  • Masters degree in Product Development
  • Apparel product development experience
  • Knowledge in Gerber Software
  • Cost Management
