About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular part-time Plasma Nurse to join our dynamic Collections Operations West team.
TheCollections Operations Westteam is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting plasma in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every this role you will be responsible for administrative support to all program activities and you will provide support in accordance with all regulations standards and good manufacturing practice.
Formula for success
Leveraging your ability to communicate effectively with donors you will conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and build and promote a positive donor experience.
Utilizing your strong people skills you will provide donors with information instruction and advice on plasma donation and other ways to contribute to Canadas Lifeline
- Drawing on your knowledge and experience you will provide coaching and consultation to donor centre staff and support donor education.
- With your excellent interpersonal skills you will work in a diverse team environment assisting in the collection of plasma including performing venipuncture according to established standards and complete multiple processes within the Centre that require strong communication.
- Your excellent attention to detail will be utilized in ensuring completeness of information in multiple systems and processes. This includes screening and collection along with the storage of products preparation of samples for testing and packaging products for shipment.
- Drawing on your knowledge or experience in continuous improvement you will contribute to the framework of continuous improvement and implementation of best practice standards with the team
Desired education and skills
Completion of accredited nursing program and current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province is required.
2 years of experience working as a nurse is considered an asset as is a certification in First Aid and CPR.
Previous experience as a preceptor or with coaching others is an asset.
Technical skills including Microsoft Word and Outlook and the ability to learn new systems and programs.
A second language is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience.

What you can expect
- Currently the work days can include Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday; Shift start and stop times are as follows0
- Repeatable Shift rotation will be 6 on 2 off 3 on 3 off(Working Monday to Saturday off Sunday/Monday work Tuesday to Thursday off Friday thru Sunday)
- Physical requirements for the role include the ability to lift weight up to 10 kg (22 lbs.).
