About the role: This position reports to the Protective Services Coordinator and is responsible for a wide range of administrative and operational responsibilities and support services. The incumbent will act as the main point of contact for the volunteer fire and emergency services for the Municipality. They will also engage with the community through presentations and public speaking events and be responsible for social media content creation. This role fills in for the Protective Services Coordinator as required. This is a permanent full-time position and will require availability for overtime as emergency situations arise.

Salary Range: Range 3 $61500- $73104

Qualities to succeed in the role:
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills
  • Superior communication skills including public speaking
  • Knowledge of emergency management
  • Proficient with a broad range of computer software applications including Microsoft Office
Education & experience required:
  • Completion of high school or equivalent
  • Incident Command Systems (ICS) training to a minimum level of ICS 200 or equivalent training in Emergency Management
  • A minimum of two (2) years of related experience; or a suitable combination of training and experience
  • Familiarity with fire and emergency services
  • Familiarity with the radio systems utilized in the province (TMR VHF) and communication technologies (satellite phones) an asset
  • Previous experience with commercial and private insurance Workers Compensation Board an asset
  • Experience in municipal government an asset
  • Conditions of employment include a satisfactory criminal record check and a valid NS drivers license
