General Assignment Reporter - Community Focus

Schedule: MondayFriday Part-time

The Edwardsville Intelligencer is looking for a motivated community-minded journalist to help tell the stories of the people places and developments that make Edwardsville and Glen Carbon unique. This reporter will play a key role in our highly regarded community coveragewriting engaging features spotlighting local businesses and individuals and helping readers understand the forces shaping growth and change in the region.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce compelling feature stories on local restaurants businesses community members and events.
• Develop enterprise features on local agriculture medicine and other community institutions.
• Report on economic growth and development with a people-centered approach that connects policy business trends and everyday life.
• Contribute to additional assignments as needed including general news and community happenings.

About the Role

This is a part-time hourly position (up to 29 hours per week) with a schedule primarily Monday through Friday.

In accordance with applicable law Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired inthe state of Illinois. The reasonable estimate if hired in Illinois is $15.75/hr to $17.00/hr. Please note this information is specific to those hired in this role is open to candidates outside of Illinois the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidates starting salary will be based on a number of permissible non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skills and experience training certifications and education.
