Our client in the Power Engineering sector is seeking to recruit an SEL RTAC Programmer for a short-term project.
Position Overview:
The SEL RTAC Programmer is responsible for the configuration programming testing and commissioning of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) RTAC devices and related automation systems in utility and industrial applications. This role involves working closely with project teams clients and field technicians to ensure reliable and efficient system performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure and program SEL RTAC devices for protection automation and control applications.
- Develop and maintain logic settings and schemes in accordance with project requirements.
- Perform testing troubleshooting and commissioning of RTAC-based systems at both office and field locations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and implement communication schemes (DNP3 Modbus IEC protocols) for SCADA integration.
- Provide technical support to field technicians and clients during installation and start-up.
- Maintain accurate documentation including settings files schematics test reports and project records.
- Participate in project planning design reviews and client meetings as required.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards utility requirements and safety protocols.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong understanding of substation automation relay logic and protection schemes.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics one-line diagrams and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Required Skills:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Electronics or Automation Engineering or equivalent experience. Hands-on experience with SEL RTAC devices and related protection/automation systems. Proficiency in programming tools such as SEL AcSELerator RTAC SEL-503x series SEL-751/751A relay configuration. Familiarity with SCADA communication protocols (DNP3 Modbus IEC/104).
Required Education:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Electronics or Automation Engineering or equivalent experience.
