LOCATION: Operating off the Coast of Newfoundland (NL) Prince Edward Island (PEI) Nova Scotia (NS) and New Brunswick (NB)

TYPE OF VESSEL: Inter Viking; Live Fish Carrier

ROTATION: 35/35

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Contract Full Time

CONTRACT: Short Term Contract; Estimate One (1) Year

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: One (1)

JOB SUMMARY: Able Seafarer duties are to carry out all tasks and duties as directed by the Master or Chief Officer to ensure safe and efficient operation on deck department.

PRE-REQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum 1 Year of Experience working on a wellboat (live fish carrier)
  • STCW II/5 Able Seafarer License or STCW Equivalent
  • Good understanding of live fish handling
  • STCW Basic Safety (STCW VI-1.1 VI-1.2 VI-1.3 VI-1.4)
  • Seafarer Medical (STCW)
  • Designated Security Duties (STCW VI-6.4)
  • Fish Welfare Course
  • Cyber Security Awareness (DNV certified)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Must pass Physical Drug Screen and Background/Pre-Employment Screening Checks

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for maintenance and repairs on deck
  • Shall take part in maintenance in the engine room when needed
  • Responsible for cleaning cargo holds and the ship in general
  • Shall keep the deck stores and paint stores in good condition and keep the paint safely stored
  • Take part in sea watches according to watch plan
  • Shall take part in bunkering operation and delivering of spill oil when needed
  • Shall take part in loading and discharging of the ship
  • Shall take part in mooring activities
  • Shall take part in tasks specified in the Emergency plan
  • Shall keep own record of rest hours
  • Promote and encourage others in safe work practices and use of PPE onboard
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
