The Virginia Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking a highly motivated self-directed IT professional to provide automation support to DGS divisions and business units and technical expertise to development projects. As a central administrative agency DGS provides a variety of specialized services to government agencies businesses and citizens ensuring the effective operations of state government functions.
As Application Developer on the DGS ISS team this position plays a pivotal role in software development administration performance tuning problem identification and resolution in support of multiple supported applications across multiple business units including Communications Engineering and Building (DEB) Real Estate Services (DRES) Fleet Facilities Management Parking and Building Access and others. Core Core MVC RESTful API / Web Services and C#
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

This position will be located in Richmond Virginia and must report on-site. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule (telework up to 2 days/week) upon completion of an approved telework agreement.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Demonstrated understanding of web development methodologies frameworks and object-oriented programming.
2. Proficient in database querying report generation and data modeling using SQL and related tools.
3. Demonstrated ability to analyze data sources and improve system design.
4. Ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences and manage multiple priorities independently.
5. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
6. Skilled in designing and documenting logical data structures ER diagrams and data flows.
7. Ability to design normalized relational databases and document technical systems (diagrams test plans user guides).
8. Experience with application configuration integration and technical/customer support.
9. Proficiency in front-end and back-end development: HTML CSS JavaScript SQL JSON and Bootstrap.
Additional Considerations
1. Experience with DevOps pipelines Git version control and issue tracking tools.
2. Experience with upgrades developing in cloud environments (Azure/AWS) and systems integrations.
3. Exposure to web security practices and automated testing tools.
4. Working knowledge of MS Power Platform (especially Power BI) and DocuSign administration.
5. Experience with website CMS configuration and maintenance
6. Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar collaboration tools.
