Registered Nurse (RN) Surgical Department Pre Surgical Assessment

Required

Current Certificate of Registration in good standing or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current CPR or BCLS certificate
Minimum of 3 years (within the last 5 years) Perioperative Surgical Service experience ( OR Pre-op PACU Q4) with a sound understanding of all planned and urgent surgical processes and procedures including identification and management of peri-operative patient risk factors.
Sound understanding of surgical and anesthesia risk factors and associated management
Proficient in modalities and principles of adult and paediatric education
Able to coordinate the inter professional collaborative model of care and directs initiates and implements care plans based on established protocols/ guidelines and
Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review).

Duties

Utilizes the nursing process in assessing planning implementing and evaluating patient care.
Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge skills and judgement in assessing health needs and in planning administering and evaluating patient care.
Responsible for supervision of other members of the health care team who contribute to the provision of patient care.
Maintains nursing records.
Participates in CI Programs to ensure a high level of patient care.
Other duties as assigned.
