The role
We require an Associate or Director Chartered Building Surveyor to lead the Cambridge building surveying team providing project and professional consultancy to both public and private clients.
To lead the resource management finances business planning and business development of the team with the office partner. The desire is to build the team to expand upon existing workloads and develop new business connections.
This role will provide an efficient and effective BS/PM service to the Practice and its clients. The post holder will have autonomy and be adaptable to be able to deliver professional services as well as project manage building schemes.
Please Note: This role may be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service Baseline Personnel Security Standard Counter Terrorist Check Security Check or Developed Vetting clearance.
The selected candidate will
- Responsible for the day to day workload of the teams to ensure that all team members are motivated and have the necessary skills and abilities to carry out their work efficiently and effectively.
- Act as building surveyor on a variety of project and professional services projects from inception to completion liaising with team members and others as necessary. Autonomy to develop business and deliver services in a variety of sectors including commercial healthcare residential block management and defence.
- Manage similar works undertaken by team members to ensure quality and timeliness of service provided to clients and act as the point of contact for Ingleton Wood.
- Manage workload of self. Report to team and office Partner on financial forecasting and progress of commissions.
- To continually improve team profitability by managing time and resources allocated to projects and by ensuring that time spent on projects is recorded and that fee invoicing is carried out at appropriate stages. To monitor and report the same against target
- To have a clear understanding of client expectations including their aims for the development of the brief.
- Liaise with other consultants internal and external to ensure fully integrated production of documentation for the work.
- To liaise with all necessary authorities in relation to the work.
- To attend site for meetings to understand and clearly define clients expectations to provide advice keep them informed of progress and make them aware of technical and financial implications.
- Marketing the services and the Practice to new and existing clients in order to increase workload. Whilst this is listed last this is a very important aspect of the role and will require time to be set aside specifically for marketing. Work with our Cambridge Marketing Forum partners and marketing team to ensure maximum coverage and effect.
- Responsible for mentoring and coaching all team members as necessary to ensure that every member is part of the team and knows their particular role within the team.
- Responsible for promoting the Practice and conducting business in an ethical professional and legal manner.
- To maintain the highest standards of integrity in all business relationships both within and outside the Practice.
- Responsible for developing the teams for which you are responsible. Including identification of training needs to match future requirements of the Practice and its clients.
- To assist the Partners in agreeing strategies for the future development of the Practice.
- To ensure professional competence through continual professional development.
- To take on additional responsibilities from the office Partner as directed.
Essential skills experience and attributes
- MRICS chartered status.
- Track record of dealing directly with clients and delivering an excellent service.
- Well-organised diligent proactive assertive well-disciplined and commercially astute.
- Full driving licence.
