We seek a High School Guidance Counselor who is familiar with universities community colleges and trade schools in the area. The counselor also helps students prepare for college or other continuing education by making information available to and assisting them with the application process. He/she must also have a working knowledge of college financial aid options and should be familiar with mental health programs within the community as referrals may be necessary. The counselor is responsible for overseeing standardized testing as well as administering aptitude and vocational tests.
The counselor also prepares students for graduation checking to make sure that students have all the required credits. High school counselorsare responsible for class scheduling as well as other administrative duties. The Counselor must have excellent communication skills enabling him/her to communicate effectively with school staff families and community members. The ability to problem solve is critical for this position as high school counselors must resolve scheduling conflicts and personal disputes on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:
A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy
The ideal candidate shall possess:
A Masters degree in School Counseling preferred
Eligibility for ACSI certification
