Your Role: The Times is looking for a breaking news reporter. You will be a reporter able to file fast clean copy with a track record of covering live stories across a broad range of topics. Experience with live blogs is a must as is a keen interest in politics and foreign affairs and the ambition to land your own exclusives.

Day to day you will:
Cover major breaking news stories across a broad range of areas
Run live blogs across of range of subject areas and sections
Consistently deliver accurate engaging copy to strict deadlines
Commission visual storytelling elements such as videos charts graphics maps and designs
Pitch agenda-setting exclusive story ideas to the news desk
Help with editing the homepage where circumstances demand it
What were looking for from you:
NCTJ qualification masters or undergraduate degree in journalism
Experience filing breaking news for a national or regional news website
Expertise and interest in current affairs and politics
Attention to detail and meticulous fact-checking
Reliable and fast under pressure
A self-starter
Good understanding of audience data and SEO
A strong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issues
