Role
Drive and establish a positive Safety Health and Environmental culture within Calderys through the development of a proactive approach to EHS Management Installation workforce and all other departments throughout the business based on the foundation of clear communication transparencyand honesty.
Assist in the development management monitoring and maintenance of activities and systems associated with Calderys Health and Safety Policies identifying where improvements can be made to realise operational and business excellence. Provision of advice to Installations management and workforce on Health & Safety issues to ensure compliance with current legislation and company Policy.
Provide technical and legal advice so that Health and Safety firmly stays at the top of every agenda and is embedded in all aspects of business thinking and decision-making.
Responsibilities
Scope
Responsible for providing efficient effective and rapid Health & Safety support and advice to Calderys installation business in Western Europe ensuring consistency of approach.
Guidance and support provided to Installation teams to ensure Health & Safety considerations are included in operational and installation budgets as well as in Projects offers.
Support business teams in the development implementation and monitoring of Environmental Safety and Health Policies.
Role will involve travel 25-40% of the time at customer sites in the perimeter as well as in Calderys business managed from Europe.
Detailed Responsibilities
Health & Safety Initiatives:Take a prominent role as a member/leader of Health & Safety improvement initiative(s) that may address important and potentially very sensitive issues especially at our customer sites.
EHS Management System:Assist in the development maintenance and implementation of Imerys / Calderys / Countries EHS Management Systems to ensure that Calderys comply with relevant country legislation and Calderys/Imerys EHS policies and protocols
Prevention of Accidents and Incidents: Ensure all accidents dangerous occurrences and significant potential incidents are investigated thoroughly with root cause analysis. Ensure that control measures and improvements are implemented to prevent reoccurrence by promoting a Zero accident and positive safety culture.
Audits: Maintain Health and Safety Audit systems procedures and conducting audits and communicating the findings ensure EHS Imerys audit findings closing in due time
Safety inspections:Conduct safety inspections at installation projects whenever required.
Document control: Assist upper management and set policies in the production coordination and verification of Risk Assessments safe methods of work accident investigation reports and EHS records.
Emergency Procedures:Assist upper management in developing and practising emergency procedures.
New Projects: Involvement in the design and implementation of new developments ensuring that Health and Safety aspects are identified and addressed.
Communication & reporting:Liaise and communicate with the Calderys Safety Installation Director EMEA to ensure good practices Health and Safety initiatives and changes in legislation are reported and when necessary communicating externally to the regulators.
Training: Develop and where required deliver communication training strategies and activities through empowering Line Management to increase understanding and improve performance of EHS issues thereby changing the EHS culture within Calderys.
Mindset & awareness: Creating a positive safety mindset with all individuals and stakeholders on a daily basis.
Managing your EHS team: By setting a clear course and expectation within the team where growth and development opportunities are evident.
Customers: Being able to meet discuss negotiate within different layers of Customers organisations by adapting an open minded and pragmatic approach.
Other important aspects:
Interdependency: Strong links with the installation teams ensuring sharing of good practices and providing support and guidance on all EHS aspects.
Incident Response:Available for Health and Safety incidents providing technical support and advice evaluation and liaison with Regulatory authorities
Requirements
Secondary education Diploma ideally with technical specialty
Degree in Safety or EHS education (e.g. Nebosh / HVK)
Min. 5 years of experience in EHS related business (offshore construction installation in dangerous and hazardous industrial environment) safety behaviour policies and practices
proven people management experience
Car driving licence.
Experience with contractor management
Thorough knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety Legislation
Good knowledge and understanding of Environmental Legislation
Ability to provide accurate and comprehensive written and verbal reports.
