Summary
Join our team at Providence Health Care as an Instrumentation & Controls Technician where youll play a key role in supporting a safe and respectful care environment for patients families and staff. Reporting to the Director of Facilities Maintenance and Operations youll design and implement electronic circuits troubleshoot and maintain complex building automation systems (BAS) for HVAC and ensure the smooth operation of electronic equipment and systems. Your expertise in developing solutions performing fault analysis and working with building control systems will be essential to our mission of delivering high-quality care. All tasks are completed in accordance with applicable codes regulations and standards.
What You Bring
Education Training and Experience:
- Graduate of a recognized diploma program in Electronic Technology plus five (5) years recent field experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Industry and vendor equipment certifications as required.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints drawings and specifications.

Your Day to Day:
- Acquire parts assemble components wire equipment install test adjust and commission modifications. Generate drawings and documentation for projects.
- Test identify faults calibrate and repair computerized hardware logic boards and HVAC-related equipment.
- Review work requests consult with user departments interpret or create diagrams/schematics and estimate materials and labor for projects. Make recommendations for optimal system performance.
- Monitor the building automation system to ensure HVAC and other systems are functioning efficiently to conserve energy and reduce emissions.
- Perform regular maintenance on HVAC electronic components including cleaning calibrating testing and replacing parts while maintaining detailed documentation.
- Coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to determine part availability cost and installation guidance. Assess system condition and plan for repairs or replacements.
- Make adjustments to computer applications such as updating databases or program instructions as needed.
- Evaluate HVAC-related computerized hardware to ensure it meets technical specifications and rectify any faults.
- Investigate and resolve user-reported issues in HVAC systems providing support and troubleshooting as needed.
- Provide training to staff on the operation of HVAC systems and electronic controls.
- Test calibrate and repair instrumentation related to steam and hydronic boilers.
- Offer technical support to staff by analyzing testing and repairing electronic system components.
- Work with external contractors to ensure compliance with contract specifications and facility needs.
- Maintain an inventory of tools supplies and equipment and recommend purchases as needed. Complete related reports and records.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
