Duties of the Position:
The Airframe and Powerplant Inspector is responsible for performing routine inspections on airframe and powerplant repairs.
- Mechanical inspection of parts including first article in-process and final.
- Verification of materials and processes and verification of certifications from sub-tier vendors.
- Performance of various other quality tasks as required to ensure the timely delivery of precision machined parts to the customer.
- Perform routine inspections on airframes and powerplants
- Ensure all repairs or modifications meet airworthiness standards as per airframe and powerplant license requirements.
- Perform inspections on weapons control systems aircraft armament bomb racks launchers and related aircraft systems.
- Completion of all applicable paperwork (working to AS9100 standards).
- Document all technical aspects of aircraft and engine maintenance as required by company and FAA standards using technical manuals drawings and blueprints.
- Complete and document inspection results in forms logs and electronic systems
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the work area ensuring proper handling and storage of tools and materials.
- Comply with safety and quality procedures relevant to the work area including EHSS ESD and FOD requirements.
- Train and mentor other inspectors and perform related duties as necessary to comply with ISO AS9100 military and customer specifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant License.
- Minimum 6 years experience with aircraft structures and/or powerplant repairs and inspections.
- Proficiency in reading and using technical documents to meet FAA airworthiness standards.
- Excellent time-management organization teamwork and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with AS9100 quality management system.
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
