Job Description:
Seeking a Junior/Mid-Level Mainframe Developer to support maintain and enhance existing software systems. The ideal candidate will handle complex application features perform debugging and participate in full project lifecycle activities including analysis development testing and implementation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day support ad-hoc requests and maintenance of designated software and systems.
Handle complex application features and technical designs.
Contribute to achieving technical departmental goals and objectives.
Analyze project requirements and develop corresponding technical specifications.
Design develop test debug and implement code for existing and new business applications.
Perform multiple tasks of varying complexity and work independently in a dynamic environment.
Lead projects or assignments take ownership and operate with minimal supervision.
Maintain procedural and code documentation for assigned projects.
Serve as Lead/Project Coordinator for limited-scope projects when required.
Understand and manage the entire project lifecycle.
Collaborate with business users and technical leads to translate business requirements into implementation deliverables.
Participate in the development process QA cycles and implementation to ensure adherence to standards.
Provide implementation coverage and production support for mainframe code changes.
Participate in production incident management calls as needed.
Required Skills:
Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience.
Proven experience in coding and debugging on Mainframe platforms.
Strong hands-on experience with COBOL SQL coding CICS debugging and mainframe utilities.
Proficiency in JCL/PROC VSAM SYNCSORT and file-based interfaces.
Experience in CICS performance tuning design and debugging.
Strong relational database skills with DB2 and SQL.
Proficient in mainframe tools such as Xpediter Intertest CA-Scheduler and IBM utilities.
Knowledge of MQSeries coding in both batch and CICS environments.
Familiarity with XML (a plus).
Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint and Visio.
Prior experience in financial services or clearinghouse environments (e.g. DTCC) is given preference.
Exposure to XML-based interfaces and automation frameworks.
Strong analytical documentation and communication skills.
