Job Summary

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Assists staff attorneys and Executive Director of state government agency with various aspects of legal work including research document drafting and interviews. Must be detail-oriented with heightened organizational time management and task prioritization skills.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Directly supervised by staff attorneys and Executive Director

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

  • Assist with administrative hearing and trial preparation
  • Conduct legal research to determine precedence or to help build a case
  • Draft legal documents including affidavits subpoenas motions briefs deposition notices decisions on motions and decision & orders
  • Arrange appointments and correspond with parties and representatives
  • Interview parties and witnesses
  • Handle various aspects of discovery including document review and production
  • Organize case files
  • Manage exhibits
  • Related work as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Bachelors degree in paralegal studies pre-law legal studies or related field and/or paralegal certification (Certified Paralegal Professional Paralegal or Certified Legal Professional);

Experience: Such as may be gained through five years employment as a paralegal in a law firm or government agency setting;

OR Any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.
