What you bring to SBHG (qualifications):

  • Masters degree in psychology social work childcare counseling or development from an accredited college or university required

  • One (1) year direct service experience with severely emotionally disturbed adolescents in an inpatient or outpatient health care setting (internship and/or practicum time may be substituted)

  • Must be a registered intern and eligible to take appropriate licensure within State mandated time limit. Three (3) unsuccessful attempts at licensure will be permitted

How you will make a difference (job overview):

Therapist direct service training position under the direct supervision of the Director of Treatment Services who assists in preparing Treatment plans writing weekly progress summaries discharge summaries Quarterly reports HS 231s and any court reports general casework services psychotherapy and therapeutic groups/activities to assigned residents and their families. Coordinates treatment within SVAC and with other agencies such as Child Protective Services Juvenile Probation Department and County Department of Mental Health other activities include interdepartmental consultation. Prepares a comprehensive written psychosocial evaluation and assessment on assigned adolescents in addition to an intake note regular progress notes weekly summary notes and Day Treatment Intensive daily notes. Responsible for permanency planning including assessing residents readiness for discharge and coordination planning with and lead treatment team; making appropriate referrals for placement case management and aftercare services; coordinates benefits with Business Office personnel and maintains knowledge of community resources. Communicates with residents their legal status and rights under applicable law and acknowledges in writing their understanding of same. Provides consultation as needed with families and the Case Manager on issues regarding admission discharge and aftercare plans. Leads or co-leads psychotherapy psycho-educational and therapeutic activity groups. Prepares verbal reports regarding adolescents participation and progress in the activity program and makes written documentation of the same in the electronic medical record system.

  • A comprehensive mental health in patient residential facility for adolescents

  • Serving up to 60 adolescents (ranging from ages 12-17) statewide

  • Intensive residential services dedicated to serving clients with serious mental health problems with the highest dignity and quality of services since 1988

  • Programs: Psychiatric Health Facility Community Treatment Facility and Non-Public High School 24/7 locked facility

  • Multidisciplinary Mental Health Services Therapeutic Behavioral Health Services and Intensive Day Treatment Program
