The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Advanced Practice Provider providing direct clinical services to Iredell County Health Department clients (Statesville & Mooresville locations). The provider will assess and evaluate patient needs throughout various clinics which may include but is not limited to maternal health family planning child health STD/HIV immunizations and in the Mobile Health Unit at various locations throughout the community. As indicated the Advanced Practice Provider will obtain complete health and psychosocial histories and records findings; perform complete physical examinations; order perform and interpret routine laboratory tests; prescribe and administer medications according to statutory and agency guidelines; develop health maintenance plans including health education disease prevention and anticipatory guidance to clients/families. The APP will additionally work interdependently with other members of the health care team (both in and out of the health department) to improve the quality of health for clinic patients and the community as a the event of a public health emergency the provider may be called upon to respond and assist as needed.
Required Minimum Training:Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the North Carolina Medical Board or approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Medical Board and one year of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider. CPR certification.
Additional Preferred Training/Experience:The preferred provider will have experience with public health services. Experience with the placement and removal of long-acting contraceptive devices and maternal health/prenatal care. Preferably one year of experience in the area of assignment.

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a full-time position and primary work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Provider may be required to work at either Statesville Mooresville or Mobile Health Unit locations.
Employee is subject to be called upon at any timeas needed to work before 8:00 a.m. after 5:00 p.m. or on weekends to help the agency respond to a public health emergency which may include but is not limited to outbreak investigations staffing mass dispensing or immunization clinics providing disaster relief or incidents (man-made or natural and intentional or non-intentional) as they arise or any public health response as requested by the Health Director.
