The HTS Analyst is responsible for ensuring accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications for imported and exported goods in compliance with global customs regulations. This role will primarily focus on HTS determinations but may also support broader trade compliance activities including export controls country of origin determinations and regulatory audits. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in engineering/manufacturing with a strong understanding of customs rules and the General Rules of Interpretation (GRI).
Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:
- HTS Classification:
- Perform detailed analysis of product specifications technical drawings and bills of materials to assign accurate HTS codes.
- Apply the General Rules of Interpretation (GRI) and relevant customs guidance to ensure compliance with global tariff classification standards.
- Maintain and update classification databases and documentation for audit readiness.
- Technical Expertise:
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to understand product functionality composition and intended use.
- Interpret technical data and product schematics to support classification decisions.
- Trade Compliance Support:
- Assist with country-of-origin determinations ECCN classification and other compliance-related tasks as needed.
- Support internal audits and respond to customs inquiries.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work within a matrixed organization partnering with procurement logistics legal and operations teams to ensure seamless compliance processes.
- Provide training and guidance on HTS classification best practices to internal stakeholders.

- Experience:

- Professional Qualifications: Import /Export / International Trade Compliance Qualifications.
