The Department of Applied Physics at Yale University and the Yale Quantum Institute invite applications for a faculty appointment in the area of theoretical quantum information science and engineering. Applications will be considered at the tenured level. Quantum science and engineering is one of five top priority areas identified in the UniversitysScience Strategy Reportand we have a vibrant and expanding community both in theYale Quantum Instituteand described more broadly atQuantum at Yale.Yale is engaged in a campus-wide investment in quantum science engineering and materials. Along with multiple appointments in these areas the University has committed to and has begun construction of a new Physical Science and Engineering Building which will provide state-of-the-art facilities in quantum science including quantum information science and quantum computing.
The successful candidate is expected to initiate a vibrant research group be an interactive member of the Applied Physics Department and contribute to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are especially interested in candidates who through their research teaching and/or service will contribute to the excellence of the academic community.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Applied Physics Physics or an equivalent degree at the time of the hire. The anticipated start date is July 1 2026 or later.
