The Opportunity
We are seeking Shipping Supervisor to support our Scarborough (Midwest) facility. Reporting to the Shipping Manager the successful candidate is responsible for leading and developing a high-performance team of unionized workers to optimize safety product quality and productivity to achieve on-time delivery and total customer satisfaction.
Shift: Bi-weekly rotation of shifts 6:30am 2:30pm 2:30pm 10:30pm 10:30pm-6:30am
What youll do
- Direct shipping employeesservicesand resources to meet customer needs and delivery requirements
- Ensure a safe work environment as top priority with emphasis on training employees addressing hazards conductinginvestigationsand enforcing safety policiesproceduresand behaviours
- Ensure the highest levels of product quality optimization of department efficiencies and shrink / waste reduction
- Supervision of shipping staff including performance management productivity monitoring/improvement communication andtimelyfollow up
- Monitor general activities in the Shipping Department including monitoringtrackingand verifying inventory levels and trailerutilization
- Ensure an efficientwork flowand that finished goods are moving expeditiously from production lines
- Frequently communicate with internal departments to ensure customer needs and on time delivery requirements are met
- Lead daily communication meetings with shipping staff and address employee concerns
- Ensure all inspections/checklists are completedon a daily basis
- Enforce all Company policies and procedures and administration of the collective agreement
- Responsible formaintaininggood housekeeping practices
- Other duties as assignedâ
What You Bring
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent training and experience
- 3 years of supervisory experience in a warehousing or manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership and effective communication skills are a prerequisite with the ability to problem solve and prioritize in afast pacedenvironment
- Corrugated or paperboard packaging experience considered an asset
- Post-secondary Diploma/Degree in a related field an asset
