LABORER II (Housing)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cuts down trees bushes and shrubbery using axes power chain saw or other cutting devices. Mows and trim lawn using push type or riding lawnmower picks up trash and properly dispose at trash bin. Occasionally handles hazardous waste using protection equipment.
• Helps the maintenance crew when they are performing plumbing carpentry pipefitting electricity or other trades and crafts type work.
• Performs preventive maintenance checks for different equipment at the hospital and quarters. Identifies emergency problems and direct to the supervisors attention for corrective actions to be taken.
• Loads and unloads heavy boxes bulky supplies and materials to and from trucks by hand hand truck or dolly; open crate or boxes using crowbars and cuts band using shears; stacks supplies and materials where directed; moves furniture when needed.
• Digs ditches and trenches with picks and shovels where dirt is hard and compact does grading and sloping. Fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places using a shovel hand tamper and rake. May occasionally for a short period of time break up pavement or other hard surface with the use of jackhammer.
• Participates in the scheduled preventive maintenance program for all FDIHB Housing Units and coordinate this program to maximize the intended useful life of all FDSU Housing Assets and that would protect tenants within the confine of their assigned housing with assigned staff.
• Participates in a systematic 24-hour coverage/response for emergency evening and weekend calls for Housing Related Urgent Work Orders.
• Exercises safety so that work area is maintained in a safe and clean manner per established Policy and Procedures OSHA guidelines and including the listed items.
• Employee is to attend annual EEO orientation All FDIHB training requirements and is knowledgeable on EEO policy and FDSU.
• Removes snow/ice from walkways around the hospital and quarters during inclement weather as identified on Snow Removal Plan.
• Operates heavy equipment load equipment onto trailer transport equipment for repairs or work in other offsite locations and pick up materials with trailer if needed. At times serve as alternate driver for refuge truck for residential waste services program.
• Performs other duties assigned.

MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

Two (2) years of direct work experience.

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalency (HSE).

Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License
