A role with Engineering and Technical Design means being on a team of engineers and technical designers who create products that truly embody the intent of Target-owned brands. Can you ensure that each product has that just-right mix of style quality and value Do you love to create technical product solutions that help meet strategic business goals Then youll have success on our talented and innovative team. Here youll partner with our quality and compliance teams to understand performance testing protocols and develop products that meet them. Your work can help identify technical specifications and quality standards like raw materials fit and function construction details and dimensions. Youll leverage collective expertise to suggest improvements to cost of goods assembly sustainability and ROI. Youll also collaborate with vendors to ensure that the brand vision is clearly understood and successfully brought to life with every product we offer.

As a Product Engineer you will develop and execute the technical development process that ensures product adherence to the quality standards established for Target-owned brands. Under the overall direction of the Director you will interpret designers concepts usher product through its development lifecycle and provide technical product guidance to design sourcing and merchant teams. You will be responsible for understanding the business initiatives product functional requirements and performance expectations to ensure consistency of product while proactively supporting technical addition you will support and be responsible for providing effective product technical specifications and product quality standards to include: raw materials fit/function construction details and product partnership with internal and external partners youll ensure the brand vision is appropriately executed work to identify and address manufacturing issues and co-develop products. Likewise youll stay current on benchmarks for specified product categories to ensure Target product meets or exceeds the performance of the competitors product.

About You:
Four-year degree in Manufacturing Industrial Engineering Product Development or related field or equivalent experience
4 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of testing safety and legal requirements for consumer products
Knowledge of applicable raw materials and their performance and usage
Strong knowledge of various 2-D and/or 3-D CAD software packages
Exhibits a working knowledge of product manufacturing
Ability to build strong relationships in order to successfully work in a team environment

This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Targets needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team members core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually depending upon what your role team and tasks require for that day.
