40 hr Day Shift Admissions Nurse (M - F)

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
with Admissions Department admitting provider and inpatient unit nursing staff to ensure timely admissions for all patients and promotes professional working relationships between the various hospital departments
all patients for safety at time of admission and completes comprehensive nursing admission assessment in EPIC
collaboration with Admissions staff provides care for patients in Intake Area while they await transfer to the inpatient unit (i.e monitoring of vital signs and for signs/symptoms of illness medicating patients as ordered by provider de-escalation and management of crisis situations etc.)
administers medication to patients in Intake Area in both emergent and non-emergent situations in accordance with hospital policy and procedures (use of barcode scanning WOW etc.).
effective handoff communication to receiving unit with up to date accurate clinical information prior to transfer of patient to floor
with training and orientation of new hire RNs on an as needed basis
Pyxis Room in accordance with all regulatory requirements including receipt of daily pharmacy courier delivery follows procedure for safe medication storage and assists Pharmacy Technician with gaining access to Pyxis Room daily.
Pyxis daily for discrepancies and ensures weekly controlled substance inventory is completed on time. Promptly reports any issues to the Associate Director of Clinical Operations.
inventory / orders oxygen tank supply for hospital
to perform other duties not documented in the job description including participation in performance improvement initiatives etc.
Qualifications and Education:
Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing BSN preferred
2 yrs prior mental health nursing experience required
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent computer skills (EPIC Biopoint Word Excel Power Point etc.)
Maintains yearly/biyearly competencies of Restraint Elimination CPR Risk Management Corporate Compliance and other modules as assigned
Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others
Maintains currency in profession
Ability to use intuitive and sound judgment
Skilled in de-escalation and managing patients in the least restrictive environment
Knowledge of department standards policies and practices
Knowledge of all inpatient behavioral health work flows
Must be fluent in English (verbal and written)
Hours of Work: 40 hours weekly on the day shift Monday through Friday. Must be able to flex schedule when needed to meet operational needs. No regularly scheduled weekends or holidays.

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.
