The University of Iowa Health Care department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist to perform and teach specialized general diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing complex imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during to perform general radiography procedures in multiple areas within the hospital including Adult and Pediatric Radiology emergency room OR fluoroscopy and orthopedic clinic.

Duties Include:

Perform radiography procedures using a variety of imaging equipment. Operate fixed and portable radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic imaging studies.
Provide instruction to trainees students and other medical staff on operation and safety precautions.
Has knowledge and understanding of key Service Excellence principles for interactions with patients and staff.
Establish rapport with patient and provide information about how the exam is performed and what is required of the patient.
Utilize standard safety precautions to minimize or eliminate risks to patients personnel and equipment.
Prepare and administer contrast material to patients under radiologists supervision as required.

Percent of Time: 60%

Schedule: Weekend Option / Saturday and Saturday 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM. No holidays or on-call responsibilities.

Experience Requirements

A Bachelors degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.

At least 1 year of experience in general radiology.

Certification Requirements

Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.

Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.

Desirable Qualifications

Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in a level 1 Trauma center is desired.

Recent work or clinical education experience in general radiography is desired.
