Job Summary

Newport Pagnell Medical Centrehas a fantastic opportunity for a permanent healthcare assistant to join the practice to support the nursing team. The hours for this role can be flexible so it is offered on a full or part-time basis so please apply to discuss.

Working under the direct supervision of the lead nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols you will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
The healthcare assistantwill be able toapply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas such as:
  • Venepuncture and phlebotomy checks.
  • New patient health checks.
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms.
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations.
  • Providing valuable health promotion and education for service users their families and carers.
The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience skills and competence requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Essential - these are a requirement to be considered for the role:

  • Confidence and competence in a health care environment.
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently confidential manner as well as a compassionate and respectfulapproachplacing a high value on the dignity of patients relatives carers and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a GP practice/primary care
  • Successful completion of the Care Certificate.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • Strong clinical skills.
