Job Description:

We are searching for the best talent for a Staff Designer to join our DePuy Synthes located in Warsaw IN.

The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies as may be required regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

Should you accept this position it is anticipated that following conclusion of the transaction you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes programs policies and benefit that case details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

You will:

  • Designs and executes mechanical tests and scientific experiments and presents data and conclusions to managers.
  • Develops medical diagnostic and clinical instrumentation equipment and procedures.
  • Determines design issues by studying design project requirements analyzing user input and evaluating similar and related products and systems.
  • Works cross-functionally to help understand findings and results of prototype tests.
  • Analyzes operational and technical issues and develops and implements solutions resulting in efficient operations.
  • Coaches more junior colleagues in techniques processes and responsibilities.
  • Understands and applies Johnson & Johnsons Credo and Leadership Imperatives in day-to-day interactions with team.
  • Analyzes final drawings and design layouts using sophisticated software and computer aided design (CAD) equipment.
  • Checks and validates dimensions of parts in the relation of one part to another and the relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
  • Presents finished designs and works with other engineers.
  • Perform as Checker to ensure drawings and models are compliant to procedures.
  • Oversee the design of major components or major portions of instrument systems to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations.
  • Reviews standard and nonstandard adjustments as necessary or desired.
  • Uses in-depth knowledge of various mechanisms drafting practices and mathematics to complete drawings.
  • Provides expertise in finite element analysis and other engineering calculation tools to prove sizing materials and specifications prior to machine fabrication.
  • Reviews complex three-dimensional designs and models.
  • Reviews proposed advanced design and technical engineering expertise and solutions for mechanical and mechanical process interaction issues.
  • Reviews layouts of complex assemblies and detail parts of devices and mechanisms. May lead product development teams and/or cross functional teams. Designs innovative new products. Analyzes complex finished designs from sketches redlined blueprints or from oral engineering presentations. Oversees ideas and understand inadequacies of designs. Determines possible solutions to design problems.
  • Responsible for communicating business-related issues or opportunities to next management level
  • Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
  • For those who supervise or manage a staff responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition if applicable
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal State local and Company regulations policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Applied Science plus 46 years of relevant experience; or High School diploma plus 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Utilizing interpersonal skills ability to effectively communicate design information.
  • Medical Device industry experience is a plus.
  • Ability to develop robust CAD models and detailed drawings is required.
  • Intermediate familiarity with GD&T.
  • Basic manufacturing knowledge.
  • Experience with any of following software applications is a plus:Siemens Teamcenter 10 or newer Siemens NX 10 or newer Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Travel up to 10%
