Responsibilities
Performs phlebotomy and routine laboratory procedures. Supports clinical operations through accurate specimen collection safe handling and timely communication of results.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen processing using proper patient identification labeling and collection standards.
- Assist with complex phlebotomy situations and maintain professional patient and staff interactions.
- Obtain basic vital signs after completing required competency (no immunizations medication dispensing or procedure assistance).
- Accurately document clinical and laboratory information in the electronic health record.
- Conduct quality control equipment maintenance troubleshooting and proficiency testing as required.
- Apply knowledge of specialty procedures and test values to determine appropriate next steps within scope.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required in complex CLIA labs).
- If CMA -Valid and current certification in the state of Iowa for Medical Assisting
- Accredited program plus certification through:(AAMA NCCT AMT NHA NCMA NAHP AAH ARMA or NHCA)
- Phlebotomy experience or phlebotomy certification
- Direct patient care or certification for MA LPN RN a plus!
