Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Kingston team is seeking an Electrical Engineer. This role will provide leadership direction and support in the design and maintenance of electrical and automation systems and controls. Additionally this team member will demonstrate our Cultural Beliefs while guiding and supporting others engaged in activities related to electrical engineering reliability/maintenance automation and controls to achieve overall plant goals relating to safety quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

The Electrical Engineer supports our Vision 3x30 targets and is accountable for:

  • Selecting electrical equipment and overseeing the completion of electrical layout drawings cable sizing and selection routing and scheduling drawings as required to complete a defined project.
  • Completing equipment location plans cable tray routing and loading building and sheltering electrical layouts and details.
  • Selecting instrument and control device sizing and specification as required for defined projects.
  • Completing instrument location plans building and shelter instrument layouts instrument installation details and related drawings as required by the defined project.
  • Specification process controls systems and detail hardware required for the plant control system including panel layout and design PLC hardware Allen Bradley or Siemens controls.
  • Preparing input/output listing from project documents for detailing the hardware and coordinating with the plant designs including preparation of panels and control stations.
  • Solving automation control problems and improving system performance in manufacturing environment
  • Working with contractors on project specification control plan system testing and commissioning

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Proven experience as Electrical Engineer or Control/Systems Engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Experience developing scope of work using P&IDs specifications and project requirements to specify and complete the electrical instrument and control systems
  • Experience with electrical control system programming with PLC brands (i.e. Siemens Modicon Allen-Bradley and Rockwell)
  • Project experience with HMI products (i.e. WinCC Flexible RSView and InTouch)
  • Experience with AC/DC motor drives
  • Proficient in Electrical AUTOCAD
  • Electrical and control system commissioning and maintenance experience

Novelis Kingston Works is situated on the traditional homeland of the Haudenosaunee Anishinaabe and Huron-Wendat peoples. We thank them for their ongoing stewardship of this land where we are fortunate to work.
