Job Summary

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility major job duties special projects and key objectives for this position. Must be highly motivated and capable of working both independently and as part of a team Work requires prior experience and familiarity with procedures and equipment Demonstrate advanced knowledge of cardiovascular pathophysiology Provide and maintain a therapeutic environment for patients and families Utilize equipment and supplies and nursing resources appropriately Foster continuity of patient care and efficient use of resources Facilitate consistent efficient information flow among all staff Assure that all documentation and billing requirements are met Communicate and educate effectively at all levels Demonstrate and foster a high standard of professionalism and collaboration at all times Consistently demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to hospital department and all regulatory agency policies standards and requirements; adhere to Radiation Safety protocols; maintain required certifications Participate in research quality improvement and other projects within the service Remain current on developments and trends in electrophysiology; participate in education/training to maintain current practice Assist in the orientation of new employees Actively support MGH Mission Vision and Values and departmental initiatives QUALIFICATIONS: Education Current Massachusetts Nursing License required Bachelors degree in nursing preferred Experience Advanced knowledge of interventional procedures for acute cardiac/circulatory/respiratory emergency preferred Advanced knowledge and skills for assessment and evaluation of chronically ill cardiac patients A minimum of 2 years experience in critical care BLS and ACLS certification required SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: 1. Must possess strong interpersonal communication and problem solving skills; maintain a high standard of professionalism at all times; foster effective working relationships with department and other hospital personnel; and promote interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration 2. Must demonstrate sound judgment and initiative in a variety of situations and successfully prioritize the multiple responsibilities encompassed within the position and adapt to a rapidly changing environment 3. Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills necessary to perform multiple tasks; must be able to prioritize the responsibilities of this unique position and to adapt to the changing pace within the lab 4. Must demonstrate proficiency with computers and cardiac diagnostic and mapping systems 5. Must remain flexible regarding shift coverage and overtime 6. Must be physically capable of lifting (linen supplies patients etc) 7. Must be able to work with adult elderly and critically ill patients; must be able to work productively in emergency situations such as cardiac or respiratory codes 8. Excellent computer skills required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products WORKING CONDITIONS: Describe the conditions in which the work is performed. 1. Fast-paced high-volume high-acuity interventional patient care environment 2. Requires physical effort to lift and position patients and radiographic equipment 3. Exposure to some radiation during fluoroscopy and digital acquisition 4. Risk of needle sticks and exposure to blood waste products and contagious disease 5. Constant changes in light
