Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter to ensure the smooth operation of production equipment machinery vehicles and buildings. The role involves performing routine preventative maintenance addressing breakdowns and supporting continuous production processes while maintaining high standards of safety quality and housekeeping.
Key Responsibilities:- Machinery Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns across all machines equipment and vehicles.
- Carry out improvements and modifications to machinery as needed.
- Use appropriate lubricants and maintenance practices as per machine/product specifications.
- Operate workshop machines tools and equipment safely and responsibly.
- Order collect and manage spares in coordination with the Maintenance Manager.
- Fabricate minor spares using lathe drill press welding and other workshop equipment.
- Maintain statutory maintenance registers for tools ladders pressure vessels and lifting devices.
- Liaise with service providers for plant servicing air compressors hoists and forklifts.
- Complete maintenance records in line with quality management procedures.
- Buildings & Grounds Maintenance
- Conduct preventative maintenance and repair work on buildings as required.
- Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs in the plant.
- Coordinate with departmental managers to minimize disruption to production processes.
- Quality Management Compliance
- Adhere to quality management system (QMS) standards and procedures.
- Follow GMP and HACCP protocols relevant to production processes.
- Ensure security of premises in areas of responsibility.
- Health Safety & Housekeeping
- Maintain high standards of workshop and parts store sanitation.
- Participate in health & safety training and meetings and adhere to all protective clothing policies.
- Monitor safe work practices and report any deviations.
- Ensure all areas of responsibility are kept clean tidy and safe.
Requirements:- Education: Grade 12 or equivalent; Trade Tested Certificate
- Experience: 2 years maintenance experience in a production or manufacturing environment
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Mechanical electrical and basic plumbing maintenance skills
- Familiarity with HACCP systems and ISO pre-requisite programs
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance plans
- Other: Valid drivers license; willingness to be on call one week in three
- Behaviours: Strong problem-solving ability communication skills ability to work
- under pressure and a proactive approach to maintenance
