DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
As a member of the patient care team the Registered Respiratory Therapist provides diagnostic data therapeutic intervention and ensures the safe and appropriate application of a variety of respiratory equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Training And Experience
Graduation from a recognised Respiratory Therapy program and eligible for registered membership with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT). Life Support C Certificate required Instructors Certificate an asset.
Skills And Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to deal with others effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in highly stressful environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions in emergency situations and establish priorities.
- Demonstrated physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related office equipment.
