JOB PURPOSE
The Avionics Technician is responsible for maintaining repairing and troubleshooting electronic systems and equipment. This includes communication navigation radar and flight control systems ensuring they are operating efficiently and safely. The role requires adhering to safety standards and regulatory guidelines to ensure the articles meet airworthiness standards.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions
- Read and comprehend simple to complex schematics.
- Troubleshoot electronics down to the component level.
- Demonstrate considerable knowledge of basic to complex electronic theory.
- Show considerable skill and experience in soldering surface mount components.
- Utilize oscilloscopes and digital volt meters effectively.
- Maintain an elevated level of focus and attention to detail.
- Follow instructions and retain technical information effectively.
- Read and understand work instructions and Component Maintenance Manuals.
- Work with small detailed components.
Marginal Job Functions:
- Set up and operate test equipment for troubleshooting calibrating and testing avionics instrument and accessories articles.
- Troubleshoot circuitry and circuit boards at the component level.
- Repair circuit boards by replacing individual components.
- Test repair and overhaul various electronic articles.
Safety Requirements:
- Participate in and support safety initiatives safe work practices and compliance.
- Engage in safety activities including immediately reporting hazards unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries.
- Adhere to all safety rules FAA regulations PPE compliance and equipment operation requirements.
Working Conditions:
- Temperature controlled environment.
Physical Demands:
- Requires sitting or standing for extended periods.
- Frequent walking bending and reaching to shoulder level.
- Occasional squatting lifting carrying pushing or pulling up to twenty pounds.
- Repetitive hand movements are necessary.
- Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity required.
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range are essential.
Experience:
- Experience in electronics or a related field is preferred. Graduation from a Technical School is acceptable in lieu of direct experience requirement.
Certificates/Licenses:
- General Radiotelephone Operator License (PG) w/ Radar Endorsement desired no certificate or license required.
