Job Summary

As a pest control technician you areresponsible for inspecting properties identifying pests and safely applying pesticides or other control methods to eliminate infestations. In California you must be licensed by the Structural Pest Control Board (SPCB) to work on man-made structures.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Inspect buildings and property for pests or signs of infestation.
  • Design and execute pest management plans which may include using baits setting traps or applying chemical pesticides.
  • Communicate with customers to explain the treatment plan answer questions and provide recommendations for preventing future infestations.
  • Complete necessary paperwork maintain accurate records of services performed and collect payments.
  • Safely handle and apply potentially toxic chemicals while wearing protective gear like gloves goggles and respirators.
  • Drive a company vehicle and manage your daily route to service customer appointments.

Licensing:All states require pest control workers to be California you must be licensed by the Structural Pest Control Board to apply pesticides on behalf of a registered company.
  • Applicator license:This license allows you to apply pesticides under the supervision of a licensed operator or field representative.
