The Role:

Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls (VMEC) Electrified Propulsion and Energy Transfer Experience (EPETE) department is responsible for end-to-end Propulsion Charging and V2X Controls SW product for all EV and (P)HEV GM Vehicles; our product scope covers requirement setting controls diagnostics SW calibration development and deployment. We are a highly capable engineering team that focuses on delivering with quality scalability agility and customer-value added excellence; and we always continue to grow innovate & excel.

We are looking Engineering Group Manager for Battery Energy Transfer software team that leads the requirement controls diagnostics and software development to support growing Electrification business!

What Youll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Enable self-organizing empowered teams to deliver Battery Energy Transfer Software product on-time with quality help develop actionable strategy and support execution in an agile framework

  • Foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics continuous flow and relentless improvement

  • Mentor coach and develop employees and their careers

  • Establish and monitor budget for responsible activities

  • Execute resource planning for required activities

  • Model and foster GMs Core Values and Winning Behaviors

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering to include Electrical Computer Science Computer Engineering and Mathematics.

  • Minimum 7 years of engineering experience related to embedded control system calibration related hardware and/or safety critical system development

  • Demonstrated results in successful project execution

  • Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills - able to get multiple teams moving in the same direction

  • Demonstrated ability to Deal with Ambiguity while driving timely decision making

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master of Science in Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration

  • 10 years of engineering experience related to embedded control system calibration related hardware and/or safety critical system development

  • Leadership experience of teams of engineers responsible for developing or testing embedded control systems or related hardware

  • Demonstrated ability to: achieve results through effective teamwork lead numerous projects with different focal areas to successful completion and manage and measure work through metrics data and results

  • Prior experience in Electrification domains

  • Experience managing a global team that is geographically dispersed

  • Working knowledge of embedded controls development tool set (e.g. IBM Rational Tool Suite Jira/Jama Git ecosystem MatLab-Simulink ETAS)

Company vehicle:

Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program though which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.
