POSITION SUMMARY:
Wound Care Nurse coordinates treatment to provide comprehensive wound assessments and plan of care to provide patient & family education regarding prevention of pressure ulcers and support services dressing selection and adjunctive therapy. The Wound Care Nurse will collaborate with clinical staff physicians and other members of the treatment team to provide the patient with the highest quality and most appropriate wound care. Acts as a resource for the treatment team and clinical staff.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
This individual will possess the following:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing (RN or LVN) with a current license in the State of Texas.
- The nurse should preferably have a certification of wound care through an accredited program with at least 2 years-experience.
- Must have knowledge of treatment protocols and how to assess skin and stage pressure ulcers.
- Must have experience working with the geriatric population.
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Excellent assessment skills
- Must willingly demonstrate the ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Must demonstrate initiative be a self-starter with job duties assigned
- Good computer skills
Must possess critical thinking skills and be able to make independent decisions
