An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified highly skilled and experienced Specialist Teacher for Deaf Children and Young People to contribute to the success of the Hearing Support Team by taking on the leadership role as Senior Teacher.
About the Team
The Hearing Support Team is a welcoming busy team consisting of specialistTeachers for Deaf Children and Young People (TODs) an Educational Audiologist a technician practitioners and a BSL tutor all with a wealth of knowledge and experience. We workwith babies children and young people with a diagnosed hearing loss from the point of identification/referral up to 18. We work directly with families in the home in Early Years settings Leicestershire maintained schools and academies and specialist settings and Special schools. Staff may work within our specialist secondary Hearing Resource Centre based in Beauchamp College part of Specialist Teaching Service we aim topromote and improve the inclusion opportunities outcomes and experiences of children with Deafness working in partnership with families educational settings and organisations.
About the Role
We welcome applications from experienced Qualified TODs who wish to take on the Senior Teacher leadership role and work with the Team Manager to shape the development of the team. The role includes leading on specific areas of work providing effective performance management within the team mentoring newly qualified staff and deputising forthe Team Manager as appropriate.
You will have responsibility for a caseload of Deaf children and young people and be confident in providing support and advice to children and young people with a diagnosis of Deafness their families/carers and educational settings within a multi-agency context. You will be confident delivering training to a range of audiences as a key part of the role.
You will be supported to develop in the role through professional development opportunities including access to training and mentoring.
Please note: LCC provisions for annual leave apply to staff on Leadership scales. Full-time employees are entitled to 27 days (below 5 continuous years service) or 32 days (above 5 years continuous service) plus 8 nominated days for public holidays. Employees on Leadership scale will also be entitled to an additional 10 days annual leave which can be taken in term time.
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
