The Role
Were looking for an energetic and skilled Producer to play a senior role in the planning production and output of news content for ABC News Channel.
This role will focus on theproductionand output of dynamic andengagingcontinuous news content for the News Channel and other platforms
The Job
- Under limited direction plan and produce news content in line with ABC editorial policies; generate suggest and develop ideas for dynamic audience-focused newscontentfor broadcast and digital formats and platforms.
- When required output on air coverage including news bulletins rolling coverage breaking news and special programming including providing direction and guidance to on air presenters studio crew and editorialstaff.
- In collaboration with the Supervising Producer oversee the production of bulletin rundownsand ensure the immediacyand accuracyof continuous news output.
- Provide editorial direction for line-up producers producers and studio control room teams; ensure news content in bulletins is in line with ABC editorial policies.
- Maintain an excellent understanding of current events and issues monitoring a wide range of news and information media; develop and foster a wide network of contacts and sources to develop original ideas and packages.
- In collaboration withthe News Channel leaderships teamprovidesupport editorial guidance and feedback to assist with the development and output of news content; proactively identify opportunities for staff to build their editorial and production skills.
- Develop and maintain relationships with relevant internal stakeholders to generate new content and engage audiences.
- Maintain an awareness and share insights into developments in television digital and social news media and in audience and digital trends.

About You
You arean experienced and technically proficientoutputproducerwhounderstandshow to source and create engaging and audience relevantcontent in adynamic andfast paved environment.
Youll have:
- High-level editorial skills and proven track record innews / current affairs together with an awareness and understanding of developing content forallplatforms includingvideoon demand digital andaudio.
- Demonstrated experience in the control room outputtinglivenews bulletins including live eventsreporter crosses studio interviews as well as breaking news and rolling coverage.
- Experience in planning producing and delivering innovative news programming with an audience focus; demonstrated ability to produce clear and strong editorial content with accuracy and in accordance with Editorial Policies and Style Guides; the capacity to identify opportunities to improve content and generate new content.
- High level organisational and communication skills; superior problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated understanding and passion to source and createaudience relevantcontent which represents the broad diversity of the Australian community including stories that reflect a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds and Indigenous communities where editorially relevant.
- A proven ability to source and maintain contacts across the broader Australian community.
- Demonstrated understanding of programming priorities and objectives of ABC News Division.
- Proven ability to guide and develop team members; an ability to foster an open and creative approach to work share ideas skills and knowledge across teams.
- The ability to inspire teams to work creatively to meet production requirements and to deliver on broadcast and digital audience requirements including to increase program reach
