The role
We are looking for a global Portfolio Manager to lead the Harmonized Portfolio Reviews stream within INGs global Lending Transformation Program. In this permanent role you will help build the future Portfolio Management (PM) organization and drive the shift from decentralized file-based reviews to a globally consistent risk-based portfolio review model. You will design and implement a unified review framework streamline legacy processes and enable PM teams to focus on strategic portfolio steering. This role has a global scope within WB Lending and reports to the Global Head of Portfolio Management in Amsterdam. It offers significant exposure to stakeholders across Lending Risk Finance and Transformation. If you have strong lending expertise transformation experience and a passion for building scalable operating models this is a unique opportunity to shape how ING manages its 300bn WB Lending portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Design & Rollout of Harmonized Portfolio Reviews: Lead the development and implementation of a standardized portfolio review framework across WB Lending. Define consistent formats metrics and cadences. Pilot and refine the approach in select sectors and regions then drive global adoption. Ensure the new process supports both risk and commercial steering.
- Build the Future PM Organization: Help define the target operating model for Portfolio Management. Rebalance the PM focus from individual credit reviews to portfolio-level oversight. Support the transition of transactional tasks to Global Lending Support (GLS) and drive adoption of light-touch and automated reviews. Contribute to sizing capability building and role clarity across the global PM community.
- Portfolio Insights & Steering: Partner with the Data Insights Lead to embed portfolio dashboard and analytic into the review process. Use data to identify trends concentrations and emerging risks. Ensure reviews generate actionable insights that inform decisions on portfolio composition RWA efficiency and commercial strategy.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership: Act as the linking pin between PM and key functions. Align with Risk on review standards and early warning indicators. Collaborate with Sector Heads and Lending teams to ensure reviews support business needs. Engage regional and global PM leads to drive adoption and consistency. Communicate changes clearly and support training and onboarding.
- Program Management & Governance: Own the Harmonized Reviews workstream within the Lending Transformation Program. Define milestones manage interdependencies and report progress to the SteerCo. Set up governance structures and working groups. Track risks and ensure timely delivery of outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience
- 7 years in financial services; lending credit risk or portfolio management is a plus
- Proven track record in leading transformation or operating model change in a global financial institution
- Strong understanding of corporate lending products credit risk and portfolio dynamics
- Transformation & Program Management: Experience in designing and implementing target operating models. Skilled in project governance stakeholder management and cross-functional coordination. Familiarity with Agile ways of working is a plus
- Analytical & Commercial Acumen: Ability to interpret portfolio data and translate insights into strategic actions. Understanding of RWA capital efficiency and portfolio profitability metrics
Education
- Masters degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance Business or related field.
