Job Description Summary
The Tax Controversy Manager will be responsible for managing tax controversies and disputes with various tax authorities in Brazil on behalf of GE Vernova. This role requires a deep understanding of Brazilian tax laws regulations and GE Vernovas tax strategies. The Tax Controversy Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors to ensure effective and efficient resolution of tax issues.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage tax appeals and litigation with federal state and municipal tax authorities in Brazil;
- Develop and implement strategies to resolve tax controversies in a cost-effective and timely manner;
- Collaborate with internal teams including finance legal and business units to gather necessary information and documentation for tax controversy resolutions;
- Ensure timely and accurate management of FIN48 and FAS5 tax reserves including calculation documentation and reporting;
- Work with external tax advisors and legal counsel to develop and execute tax controversy strategies;
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of tax positions audit findings and correspondence with tax authorities;
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the status of tax controversies and potential financial impacts;
- Identify opportunities to improve tax controversy management processes and procedures;
- Implement best practices and ensure compliance with GE Vernovas tax policies and procedures;
- Stay current with changes in Brazilian tax laws and jurisprudence that may impact tax controversies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in law or a related field. Advanced degree (LLM in Taxation) preferred with membership in Brazilian professional organizations OAB.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in tax controversy management preferably within a multinational corporation operating in Brazil.
- Experience with Brazilian federal state and municipal tax laws and regulations.
- Previous experience with multinacional companies.
- Proficiency in tax research tools and Microsoft Office;
- Native Portuguese speaker with fluent proficiency in English.
