Job Summary

Heres what you need:

Education:

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Associates degree Health Information or related field preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • ATS or equivalent Trauma Registrar Course preferred
  • AAAM injury coding course preferred - required within 6 months of hire
  • Trauma Registrar Course - required within 6 months of hire

Experience

  • 1-year experience with chart auditing quality improvement data entry required
  • 1-year medical records experience preferred

In addition to the required qualifications a successful Trauma Registrar will have:

  • Working knowledge of anatomy physiology disease processes and familiarity with statistics with the ability to analyze and draw inferences from statistical data.
  • Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to function in a fast paced environment.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency with computers and understanding of medical terminology.
  • Ability to use resources of other institutions and physician offices to obtain/analyze trauma related data.

What you will do:

  • Collects patient care data identifies and reports significant findings to Trauma Program Manager/Coordinator and Trauma Medical Director.
  • Monitors trauma patient records for quality improvement indicators
  • Provides quality patient-centered care that is safe timely effective efficient and equitable.
  • Identifies ineffective and costly processes and takes action to improve those processes.
  • Helps to coordinate care across a broader continuum of patient care including injury prevention pre-hospital acute emergent and rehabilitation.
  • Coordinates efforts in the progressive growth of trauma system.
