Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Our client based in Northern Ireland is a leading engineering firm specialising in the design and manufacture of high-quality electrical control systems. Due to continued growth they are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their experienced team and play a key role in managing the quality and delivery of electrical designs.

About the Role

Reporting to the Technical Director the Senior Electrical Design Engineer will oversee the design team ensuring projects meet the highest technical and quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role involving design review project management mentoring and client liaison.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of short- medium- and long-term business strategies.

• Manage and support the electrical design team to ensure efficiency quality and timely project delivery.

• Review electrical drawings and provide peer support guidance and training to design team members.

• Maintain an up-to-date schedule of projects and delegate tasks appropriately based on skill level.

• Work closely with the Sales Team to provide technical feedback solutions and assist with project pricing.

• Liaise with customers to understand requirements manage expectations and provide regular updates.

• Interpret specifications and design electrical drawings for control panels that meet customer needs.

• Resolve technical issues across the business and implement effective solutions.

• Handle after-sales technical support investigate issues and ensure customer satisfaction.

• Collaborate with senior management to communicate project status and scheduling updates.

• Monitor material and component use to maintain cost efficiency without compromising quality.

• Occasionally assist with control panel modification fault finding and commissioning at customer sites.

• Ensure documentation and reports are completed accurately and filed appropriately.

• Deliver technical presentations and demonstrate solutions to clients.

• Ensure compliance with all specifications quality environmental and health & safety standards.

• Monitor project budgets and progress identifying and addressing variances as needed.

• Mentor and train junior members of the design team.

• Prepare written technical reports for clients when required.

• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Directors.

What Were Looking For

• Proven experience as an Electrical Design Engineer ideally in a senior or lead capacity.

• Strong knowledge of electrical design principles control panel systems and relevant standards.

• Excellent leadership and communication skills.

• Strong problem-solving and project management abilities.

• Ability to interpret specifications technical drawings and client requirements accurately.

• Proficiency in electrical design software and CAD systems.

• Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality safety and documentation.

• Must have or be willing to take the UKVI IELTS (required for visa and licensing compliance).
