Job Summary



Position Summary

Our Liquids West group is actively seeking a dynamic Transport this pivotal role you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe efficient and reliable movement of goods across our network reporting directly to the District Manager. As a key member of our operations team you will take on a diverse range of responsibilities that span both office-based planning and on-site oversight at our facilities offering a unique blend of strategic coordination and hands-on operational leadership.

This position can be based in Edmonton or Airdrie Alberta.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prioritize Health and Safety by adhering to all organizational safety policies procedures and best practices and consistently maintaining safe work behaviors.

  • Oversee daily transportation operations including route scheduling shipment tracking and ensuring timely delivery of goods.

  • Ensure full compliance with local provincial and federal transportation and safety regulations.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions and safety protocols as needed.

  • Monitor and manage transportation budgets and costs to maximize efficiency and reduce overall expenses.

  • Supervise mentor and support transportation staff including drivers and logistics team members.

  • Participate in recruitment onboarding and training efforts to build and maintain a skilled and high-performing workforce

  • Coordinate with customers vendors facilities and suppliers to address transportation needs and resolve shipment-related issues.

  • Develop and implement transportation policies and procedures aimed at improving operational efficiency safety and service quality.

  • Other duties as required.

Experience Qualifications and Education

  • Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management or equivalent professional experience.

  • Dispatch experience is required.

  • Valid Class 5 drivers license.

  • Previous truck driving experience is considered a strong asset.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety and a Safety-focused attitude.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to coach motivate and develop team members.

  • Strong customer relationship management with both internal and external clients.

  • A willingness to take direction and work effectively in stressful situations.

  • Ability to multitask and adapt to new working environments.

  • Experience in managing multiple job tasks and people.

  • Proven knowledge of business and management principles strategic planning and leadership techniques.

  • Excellent ability to listen analyze and adapt to ever changing situations and schedule changes to meet the requirements of GFL customers.
