The department would prefer to hire candidates with a Ph.D.; however applicants must have at least a Masters degree in Communication Studies Relational Communication Organizational Communication or a closely related field in hand at the time a contract is offered. Final appointment is dependent on a confirmed degree status. Applicants who have not yet completed their degree must demonstrate progress verifiable by evidence and substantive enough to ensure completion of their degree at the time of appointment.
Candidates should demonstrate an ability to enrich existing courses and develop new courses through innovative pedagogical approaches such as applied experiential community-based or other inventive critical and anti-racist pedagogies.
The preferred applicant will have teaching expertise in Relational Communication and/or Organizational Communication. Prospective candidates should highlight their teaching experience with respect to our existing curriculum. They will be asked to teach advanced courses in Organizational or Relational Communication including our Capstone course and should be prepared to teach introductory Communication Studies courses quantitative or qualitative methods with other considerations as needed.
Our department values the ability of faculty to contribute to our curriculum through courses related to their area(s) of expertise. Candidates are encouraged to highlight courses they would develop or add to our existing curriculum. This position comes with a 3:3 teaching load on a semester schedule.
