Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Monitor pregnant dairy animals regularly for signs of labor and distress
- Assist with the birthing process ensuring proper handling and support during delivery
- Provide postpartum care including cleaning feeding and administering necessary treatments
- Record detailed observations related to animal health behavior and birthing outcomes
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the maternity ward to prevent infections
- Administer medications or treatments as prescribed by veterinary staff
- Support feeding routines and ensure proper nutrition for lactating animals
- Collaborate with veterinary professionals to address any complications or emergencies promptly
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and animal welfare regulations
Requirements
- animal husbandry veterinary assistance or dairy farm operations is preferred but not mandatory
- Strong understanding of dairy animal biology especially during pregnancy and postpartum periods
- Compassionate attitude with excellent observation skills
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment including lifting and standing for extended periods
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Willingness to follow detailed protocols and safety procedures
- Basic knowledge of sanitation practices in an agricultural setting
