Description

This position has the responsibility of supporting the mission of the hospital by providing care to those most in need and by providing an environment of high-quality health care for all patients. This position is primarily responsible for the day-to-day clinical operations regarding patient care management resource management fiscal management quality improvement and knowledge adherence to The Joint Commission Federal and State regulations. Must demonstrate the possession of knowledge and skills necessary to provide operational direction for designated areas of responsibility. Must demonstrate qualities of leadership accountability and responsibility.



Responsibilities

Must demonstrate qualities of leadership accountability and responsibility.
Works with leadership to develop and track action plans when necessary
Works with assigned departments to ensure active engagement with all quality colleagues and performance improvement initiatives
Communicates to other department directors and leadership regarding occurrences issues findings and risk management suggestions; provides feedback to directors at all levels in the effort to eliminate risk.
Ensures all departments actively participate in facility surveillance rounds and are engaged in identifying resolutions to identified areas of concerns including escalation of concerns to senior leadership.
When requested adjusts personal schedule to meet departmental/unit needs.
Responds appropriately to fire safety and disaster situations.
Reports to work on time and if necessary reports tardiness to appropriate person.
Adheres to infection control and employee health practices and policies.
Collaborates with physicians and all healthcare providers regarding clinical aspects of patient care in an effort to ensure the provision of high-quality healthcare services by the departments.
Employee shall conform to regulatory customer and organizational requirements.
Must demonstrate willingness to work in cooperation with and support of others
Demonstrates effective communication skills and assists in the resolution of conflict among healthcare care team members patients and families.

Participates and documents leadership rounding at assigned times
Demonstrates the Guest Service Standards as set forth by FMOLHS. Sets expectations for departmental team members monitors and evaluates adherence to these requirements.
Maintains professional appearance according to job requirements at all times.
Demonstrates Community Service by Participation in hospital related activities.
Develops positive relationships between the hospital and community agencies special interest and civic groups and professional affiliations by acting as a hospital representative. Works through civic groups and public education activities to improve community health and foster the hospitals image as a leader in the health care industry.
Adheres to hospital policy on usage of Paid Time Off and Extended Illness Time.
Demonstrates competence and accuracy in all work tasks including those directly and indirectly related to patient care consistently providing nurse care according to physicians orders and in conformance to established standards of care and administrative policy and procedures.
Demonstrates proficiency in the referral process and use of multidisciplinary resources to meet patient needs; maintains at all times appropriate channels of communication and harmonious relations with other healthcare providers.
Maintains operational oversight for entire division by being accessible via phone/pager 24 hours a day
Represents FMOLHS by serving on community volunteer boards and /or committees.
Maintains visibility in departments by consistent rounding.
Performance Improvement
Must demonstrate ability to function consistently under stress.
Recommends revisions to new or existing policies and procedures to prevent future occurrences; recommends ways to eliminate risks through organization equipment or other changes; reviews and revises facility policies as appropriate to maintain adherence to current standards and requirements.
Makes recommendations to the Senior Leadership team and leadership for adjustments in processes and systems to meet and maintain compliance quality and service standards.
Assists departments in meeting regulatory standards
Promotes and encourages the growth and development of staff members by encouraging their participation in approved continuing education activities such as professional conferences seminars and workshops. Advocates continuing education as a means of promoting the high-quality services provided by all departmental personnel.
Develops tracks and reports on quality metrics outcomes and scorecards.
Supports and develops programs to meet the FMOLHS quality journey.
Reviews and controls the efficient procurement and use of equipment. Ensures that periodic equipment maintenance is carried out in a prudent and efficient manner that controls hospital costs and ensures patient safety.
Develops and implements methods for ensuring the education of stakeholders on the PI and quality processes

Assesses departmental compliance with regulations on an ongoing basis
Stewardship-Operations
Creatively seeks new opportunities within clinical services to partner with other hospital departments physicians community leaders employers and other healthcare facilities for increasing market share in the primary service areas.
Advocates for allocation and reallocation of resources necessary to enhance quality and patient safety activities.
Adjusts expenses according to budget or actual results.
Takes lead in renegotiating existing service contracts for improved pricing.
Continually looks for cost savings as well as revenue enhancement opportunities for the hospital and department.
Adjusts staff appropriately due to volume.
Develops divisional budgets by established deadlines.
Provides Divisional departmental operating reports to the appropriate parties by established deadlines.
Monitors capital requirements and submits requests for budgeted items according to established policy.
Monitors charges to manage revenue to maximize potential reimbursement (revenue generating areas).
Operates divisional expenses within targeted monthly budget guidelines
Operates equipment and performs job-related duties in a safe manner.
Evaluates division performance implements changes that increase efficiency and effectiveness of services delivered. Keeps administration informed of the hospital activities needs and problems in order to promote operational efficiency within the division.
Demonstrates time-management skills by prioritizing work and turning in work by requested deadlines.
Builds high functioning teams through managing turnover and employee engagement
Selects trains orients and assigns departmental staff members in a manner that ensures efficient departmental operations and complies with relevant regulations governing the employment process. Monitors through oversight departmental staffing processes.
Utilizes time to accomplish work in an efficient manner.

Attends all required mandatory educational sessions.
Assumes personal responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development. Actively seeks continuing education for further growth and development through participation in staff development programs approved continuing education courses and specialized skill training programs.

Identifies future leaders in their area who live the FMOLHS mission/values and assists them in gaining the skills they will need to become future FMOLHS leaders.
Pursue and maintain certification in areas related to their divisional responsibilities.
Investigates new techniques practices and equipment in an effort to identify ways of maximizing the quality and efficiency of health care services provided to patients.
Establishes divisional standards for the evaluation of personnel performance and creates opportunities for employee development. Monitors and evaluates the performance of reporting personnel and strives to ensure that all employees are treated fairly and with compassion/respect.
Develops required reports and maintains accurate records for use in evaluating divisional performance. Identifies ways of improving current services and consults with supervisors on employee /operational issues and problems.
Is an active member of at least one professional association related to their divisional responsibilities.



Qualifications

Experience
5 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse 5 years in nursing management.

Education
Bachelors degree in Nursing- MSN Preferred

Competent with MS Word Excel PP

Licensure
Current RN licensure BLS Required
