About the job:
Based in Mons Belgium you will join the Agency as we embark on a journey to transform our IT services to support NATOs Digital Endeavour. You will join NATO Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) which is responsible for planning and executing all lifecycle management activities for cyber executing this responsibility NCSC provides specialist cyber security-related services covering the spectrum of scientific technical acquisition operations maintenance and sustainment support throughout the lifecycle of NATO Communications and Information Systems (CIS).
We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Principal Technician (Linux) who will take on the following roles and responsibilities:
Perform scheduled checks of the NCSC enterprise Linux environments including health checks and auditing of system logs as needed to ensure the performance and availability of NCSC Services are meeting established service levels on the Linux environment;
Troubleshoot maintain and configure Linux Firewall/SELinux and other security elements;
Troubleshoot issues related to systems such as Nessus Scanners SIEM Splunk/Arcsight Tenable Security Centre Fidelis and Jira;
Deploy consolidate migrate virtualize support and decommission the NCSC enterprise Linux environments;
Utilizing the experience with UNIX scripting and automation with tools such as Bash Python and Ansible support the design implementation and support of systems into the NCSC physical and virtual environments.

About you:
The valuable knowledge and experience that you bring to this role are:
Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 3 years post-related experience or a secondary educational qualification with 5 years post-related experience;
At least 3 years practical experience of implementing and maintaining Linux security infrastructure;
Practical experience identifying and mitigating Linux related security vulnerabilities;
Extensive expertise in operating system virtualisation and network security;
Software engineering skills including programming and/or scripting knowledge Python Bash/Shell scripting;
LINUX system administration experience including knowledge and tools especially RHEL;
Strong understanding of configuration management such as Ansible;
Strong understanding of security issues surrounding server OS and applications;
Proven ability to understand and design how different system layers (Application Container Network and Infra) work together and interact;
Fundamental understanding of infrastructure concepts related to Hosting Networks IP Address Management firewalls certificates Load balancing and Proxy;
Fundamental understanding on internet protocols including HTTP SSL TCP IP;
Fluency in English both written and spoken.
