Overview

Millimans Indianapolis Health Practice is looking for a Healthcare Policy Consulting Intern who is a current law student has been admitted into IU McKinneys School of Law externship program and has an interest in state Medicaid public policy and regulatory analysis to serve as a paid part-time intern over a 12-week period. This position provides excellent opportunities for professional development and growth in state and national health policy issues. Our team is able to accommodate a start date as early as January 2026. There is potential for additional terms in addition to the opportunity to convert to full-time employment upon graduation. This position provides excellent opportunities for professional development and advancement. This position is ideal for a self-motivated individual interested in a fast-paced high growth opportunity with a progressive employer.

Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Conduct summarize and document research to support engagements for healthcare clients in areas such as:
    • Policy design development and implementation for Medicaid and other social service programs
    • Literature reviews on pertinent healthcare topics
    • Medicaid managed care program design implementation and evaluation
    • Medicaid demonstration waiver program design implementation and evaluation
    • Federal financing options and related compliance for Medicaid programs
  • Keep abreast of trends and regulatory changes affecting health clients
  • Assist with report writing and development of presentation materials
  • Communicate results to internal stakeholders
  • Ensure quality control processes and procedures are followed

Qualifications

  • Strong organization and time management skills with attention to detail to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong written andverbal communication skills
  • Ability to strategically and creatively process information and communicate with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to work within a team environment and independently manage own work

Required

  • Current IU McKinney School of Law externship program participant
  • Bachelors Degree

    Preferred

    • Background in healthcare or government programs

    The Team

    The Indianapolis Health Practice is strategically structured to serve state Medicaid agencies and other health and human services agencies. The policy team provides strategy and program design support for our state agency clients in close collaboration with professionals from other teams to best serve each of our clients unique needs. You will work in a matrix environment learning from seasoned consultants and gaining exposure to projects across a range of states and agency types. As a member of this team you will observe how we provide comprehensive consulting services which span from many different disciplines and backgrounds including actuarial policy finance pharmacy and data management all working together for a common goal to best serve our clients needs.

    Location

    The person hired for this role will work in a dynamic hybrid environment with 2 to 3 days per week of on-site work required in our Indianapolis office on a weekly basis.
